Accommodation Concern

Main activites are: alleviate suffering, disadvantage and hardship experienced by adult members of the Kettering community who are rough sleepers, homeless, sofa-surfing, in temporary accommodation or living in poverty.

Positive outcomes and impact achieved includes: enabling access to accommodation, social welfare, benevolent funds and resources; sustaining tenancies that are at risk; increasing distribution of nourishment, clothing, footwear and hygiene resources; and improving independent living and life skills.

Monday to Friday the charity provides Kettering town centre based drop-in advice and appointments staffed by a team of 4 paid staff and 5 volunteers. Other services include 1-2-1 support and advocacy services to facilitate access to other critical services e.g. GPs, addiction treatment programmes, mental health services and night shelters. In the last 3 years a supported accommodation housing unit for 3 residents has acted as a pilot for the charity offering direct accommodation to rough sleepers with some limited support services.

Approaches are needs led and proactive in identifying emerging trends so services stay responsive using co-production methodology and continuous consultation with beneficiaries, partners and community. The team works in close strategic and operational partnerships with cross sector organisations to ensure that communications and referral networks are prompt and effective.
